Despite its fair list of shortcomings, the Nissan own affordable car brand Datsun is slowly winning over buyers with its small fleet of city cars. One of their most marketed and successful models is the Datsun Go+ that has done exceptionally well in almost every region it has been introduced. Yes, its smaller cousin, the Datsun Go got some horrible reviews after it failed numerous crash tests conducted by various organizations. Nevertheless, the Go+ has certainly performed much better. But what makes it the better vehicle in Datsun’s other vehicles and a great choice if you’re looking for affordability and a car that is perfect for larger families.
1. Unbelievably Affordable Price
Available for as low as PhP 295,000, this MPV packs a solid punch. The Datsun Go+ price is not only much lower than all its competitors in the market, but the features on this vehicle are also in tandem with several higher priced model. A vehicle’s price is certainly one of the most important factors upon which its sales are based. By providing a lower priced vehicle with larger exteriors than any similarly priced hatch, the manufacturer has certainly played their cards well.
2. Eco Friendly Vehicle
The Go+ is certainly not a hybrid, but that doesn’t mean it cannot be a green vehicle. Its CO2 emissions are insanely low for the size of its drivetrain; an attribute several of its rivals are totally missing. The Go+ is sold under the LCGC (low-cost green cars) segment in the neighboring Indonesia as it maintains a low price and doesn’t contribute to environmental degradation. Vehicular emission is a major problem that has caused a big time environmental impact in recent years. It would be easy to blame everything on China and other populated region, but we all need to do our part in saving our precious planet.
3. Built For Fuel Economy
After a vehicle’s price, the second most sought after attribute is the fuel economy. Even if a car is low priced, people wouldn’t be interested in buying a gas guzzler. The Datsun Go+ is equipped with a 1.2-litre engine that delivers power while churning the most miles per gallon. Its smart computer controlled fuel injection along with, electronic accelerator pedal that allows the drivers to maintain a decent fuel economy.
4. Doesn’t Look That Bad Either
If someone didn’t tell you its amazingly affordable price, there’s no way you could guess it from the Go+’s looks. With large body and a curved design, the vehicle will certainly appeal the younger audience with its sporty looks. The front features a wide honeycomb mesh that sits between the large, brooding headlamps that give it a pretty serious appearance. The shoulder lines also provide a nice touch while adding a certain degree of aerodynamics to the body.
5. Incredible Interior Space
Being an MPV, it is obvious that the Go+ will be able to accommodate more occupants and cargo than your average hatchback. But the best part is you get a larger vehicle that is much low priced than any city car in the market. The interiors too don’t look to shabby with tons of leg and headroom and can easily fit in 7 people. The gearbox is also fixed in the dash rather than a separate transmission tunnel, allowing 3 people to sit in the front seat. This also allows the driver to enter and exit the vehicle from either side, making it more convenient.
Yes, Datsun builds low priced cars, but that doesn’t mean they should be called as ‘Cheap Cars’. Their affordability proves the fact that owning a car doesn’t require a fortune, bringing automotive technology much closer to the consumers.
